Mastery Coaching

You don't need one coach for your work, another for your body, a third for your mind, and an app to keep them all organised.

You need someone who can see the whole thing.

I left my career as a lawyer at Goldman Sachs for the Chinese mountains — not because I burned out, but because I was running at a fraction of what I had.

You can't subdue a flamethrower with no off-switch. You can redirect it. That's what Zen discipline is for: slowing down, simplifying the life, practising in the body, holding boundaries.

You ticked the boxes. Then: so what?

People look at your life and see someone who has it together. You know better.

You have drive — probably more than is convenient. You know how to work hard, push through discomfort, perform.

You also know the other side. Your attention is fragmented. Your body isn't where you want it. Work expands into everything. Your phone eats more than you'd admit. And beneath the performer is someone who craves depth and stillness.

Performance is part of you. Rejecting it isn't the answer.

The problem was never intensity

You have a colossal amount of energy. Always have. It's leaking.

Exercise. Meditation. Health. Habits. Work organisation. Life vision. Minimalism. Downtime. Eight plates, and you're the only one spinning them.

When you're frantically solving problems while dysregulated, you're cleaning a dirty window with a dirty cloth. Clean the cloth first. Then the window takes care of itself.

'As an executive coach myself, I've developed a healthy scepticism of people who call themselves coaches. But Ben is the best coach I've ever had — and a lot more. I set ambitious goals that I thought would take two years to reach. We hit most of them in three months. Ben has become an anchor in my life — like a mirror reflecting the side of me that always wanted to get my shit together.' — Rens van den Broek, Partner at gsSMART

Your suspicion is right

They’re not eight problems.

You've tried them separately. An app, a trainer, a productivity system that lasted three weeks. Each one working off a different theory of you.

They held for a while. Then life got busy and the pieces came apart.

Your sleep is a training problem. Your training is an attention problem. Your attention is a nervous system problem. Chase them one at a time and you'll spend a decade going round the loop.

So I take the whole thing. Bring me the problem — we work out what it actually is, then fix it.

Sometimes that means restructuring your working day. Sometimes changing your training. Sometimes removing half of what you're doing. Sometimes learning to sit still. Sometimes finally doing the piece of work you've been avoiding.

‘Ben saw my weirdness as a strength. He showed me how to channel it into power. Now I can't imagine living any other way.’
— Tibor de Boer, Coach and Marketing Consultant

Your personal sensei

I'm a Goldman Sachs lawyer turned internal kung fu practitioner, living near Shaolin Temple in China. The first Westerner to train one-on-one with Shifu Wu Nanfang, a 31st-generation lineage holder. Five years, six hours a day.

Your cliché fantasy personal guru sensei — who also understands corporate life, spreadsheets, and why you have forty-six browser tabs open.

So yes, there's meditation. There's martial arts. There's philosophy. But there's also your inbox. Your calendar. Your training programme. Your phone. Your sleep. Your fucking laundry.

Zen is only useful when it changes how you live on a Tuesday afternoon.

I coach five people at a time. Most coaches go the other way — more clients, more marketing, more content. That's a promise about you, not about me: nothing gets taught here that hasn't been tested for years on the person teaching it, and there's no version of this where you're client forty-three.

Ben is the real deal. From the very first time we spoke, I sensed a rare kind of quiet, electric power in him — the kind that can only be cultivated through thousands of hours of disciplined practice.' — Levina Li, Life & Leadership Coach

My Experience

Internal Shaolin kung fu

You stand still until the scattered energy settles. Breathing methods cool an overheated mind. The spiralling movements turn tension into something you can use.

That's the engine, and it's why the practice sits at the centre of everything else — the fastest way I know to change the state you make decisions from.

The point isn't to turn you into a kung fu practitioner. It's to give you direct experience of something most ambitious people grasp intellectually and can't yet do:

You can be completely still without becoming passive. Relaxed without going soft. Intense in action without being frantic inside.

I looked for years, with masters around the world, before I found this. You needn't punch trees in China. Thirty minutes each morning will change how you carry yourself through every meeting, every decision, every conversation.

‘After two years, I honestly can’t imagine life without the practice. It is deeply meaningful for me and gives a sense of continuity and stability. Ben is a rare example of sincerity and integrity: he is guiding and teaching from a real and deep experience with humility and warmth.’ — John Crawford, Concert Violinist & Alexander Technique Teacher

How we actually work

I’m not one of those coaches who talks sexy marketing words but when it comes down to the work, has nothing in the tank.

I coach five people at a time.

One space is open right now.

We cover the full stack in one place, so nothing is left orphaned:

  • A personalised daily mindbody practice (internal Shaolin arts) that settles the nervous system and builds real physical capacity

  • Digital minimalism and attention architecture so your devices stop stealing hours

  • Work organisation and deep work systems that actually stick

  • Health habits that reverse years of quiet decay

  • Introspective journaling that turns insight into decisions

  • Clear boundaries and a simpler outer life so the inner work has room to land

Weekly 90-minute calls: half practice, half deep coaching.

Unlimited access between sessions.

Custom video guidance for your practice.

A daily journal and targeted modules.

Nothing I teach is theoretical. Everything has been tested under the same pressures you face.

I’m a compulsive writer. I have made eight coaching programmes. Click on the link below to access the materials from my MindBodyWork Mastery programme I delivered for ASICS:

What changes

Flow states. You get back three hours a day that were going to distraction, and the hours you keep are usable — deep flow rather than shallow busy. Working hours halve while output doubles.

Mindbody upgrade. Years of physical decay reverse in months.

The core switch. You experience directly that stillness outperforms striving, and you stop being tempted to run faster just this once.

100% of clients have re-signed or collaborated after their first block.
