Deep Writing: Coach Materials
I don’t want to be one of those people who spends more time marketing than they do doing their real work.
Solution: Publish my real work as marketing.
What follows is adapted from the actual materials I use in my Deep Writing programme.
The real deal will be supplemented by exercises and a live class.
As of the time of writing, there are two places left. We kick off in the week of 23 February 2026.
I've trimmed it somewhat for the modern attention span. (Only somewhat.)
Why you're here
(puts on Morpheus glasses)
Let me tell you why you're here.
You've been fantasising about this moment for a very long time, haven't you?
Everything looks right. You've ticked many a box.
And yet, something is missing. A background hum of discontent.
There's something inside you that wants out. You've felt it. People have asked you when you'll finally start publishing. You've lived behind 'one day' for too long.
Writing has been that frontier. That bastard you couldn't quite cross. You're disciplined in other areas of your life. But this one keeps eluding you. You planned the whole thing. The newsletter. The LinkedIn presence. Perhaps even the book. Felt the rush. Started strong.
But it fizzled.
You're here because writing matters to you. Genuinely. You know it's the master skill — the thing that clarifies your thinking, builds authority, makes you known for something real.
But you're also frustrated. Frustrated by most of the bullshit out there. Afraid that if you take a writing course, you'll end up writing like everybody else. Templates and tricks to hack systems and go viral.
None of that nonsense here.
This is not an external writing course. We are not learning to game algorithms. This is internal and external. We systematically strip away the layers of bullshit preventing you from expressing yourself authentically. Then we give you the tools to get it out.
The beauty of the internal martial arts I practise is that they are quiet inside. The beauty of the West is external expression. We are bringing these two together.
The premise
What you express externally mirrors what's going on inside you.
Most people trying to publish are squeezing content from an empty vessel. Scattered mind. Dysregulated nervous system. Digital chaos haemorrhaging hours daily.
Of course what comes out is flat. Of course they can't sustain it.
You cannot express what you don't have.
This is not some spiritual platitude. It's mechanical. (And slightly annoying in how true it is.)
You're trying to produce authentic, compelling content from a mind lost to scroll, a body stiff and declining, three hours daily haemorrhaging to digital chaos, no clarity on what you actually think.
You're trying to clean a dirty window with a dirty cloth.
We fill the vessel first. Then expression becomes overflow.
We rebuild the infrastructure — your practice, your environment, your habits, your inner clarity — so writing isn't effortful. It's inevitable.
You will suffer from writer's diarrhoea, not writer's block. (The good kind of diarrhoea, if such a thing exists.)
How this works
Five pillars. Each feeds the next.
1. Embodied Zen Practice. Personalised Shaolin practice — 30 minutes daily. Regulated nervous system, physical aliveness, still mind. The foundation.
2. Productivity Mastery. Digital makeover. Deep work architecture. The systems that 4x'd my Goldman output. You reclaim 2-3 hours daily.
3. Reflective Journalling. The decision-making engine that fuelled all the bold decisions I've made. Structured excavation. Clarity on what you want and courage to act.
4. AI as Thinking Partner. A compounding corpus that learns you over 100 days. Clunky at first. Then it compounds. By Day 100, you'll ramble a voice note and AI will shape it into something that sounds like you on your best day.
5. Authentic Expression. Publishing that captures who you actually are. The overflow from a full vessel.
Each pillar feeds the next. Practice creates space for productivity. Productivity creates time for journalling. Journalling feeds your AI. AI accelerates your expression. Expression deepens your practice.
Round and round. Compounding.
The 100 days
Three phases.
Foundation (Days 1-21). Get your shit together. Establish daily practice. Eliminate digital chaos. Lock in your commitment.
Excavation (Days 22-50). Discover what you actually have to say. Deep voice excavation. Mine your past writing. Train AI on your patterns.
Expression (Days 51-100). Fifty days of consistent publishing. The vessel is full. It overflows.
The magic trick
I hereby bequeath you the ultimate cheat for actually doing things you've been dithering on: a small group coaching programme.
This is the magic trick I've used to get ripped, enlightened and paid. To learn Chinese well enough to translate my kung fu master's talks. To build eight programmes, including a six-month MindBodyWork Mastery at ASICS. (Sorry for the name drop.)
Here's how it works. You find someone who has what you want. You humble yourself to their guidance. And you do what they say.
I will not make you write like everybody else. I will help you write more like yourself. But there needs to be a lurch of trust into this container.
The small group vibe means you get attention and accountability. Nowhere to hide. This is gold – especially for overcoming a block such as writing where so many are prone to excuse-making.
I — with the help of my very-well trained assistant Claude — bring the structure, you bring yourself.
Very well
Enough for today.
That's what you'd get in the first days of Deep Writing.
One day at a time, 100 times.
Big things are possible.
If this resonates, book a call with me here.
No sales pitch on the first call. We're checking for resonance. Seeing if this container is right for you.
And if it is? We begin.
